A 30-year-old motorcyclist, Ajibola Ismaila, who allegedly caused the death of a pastor, Seyi Ayoola, has been brought before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, on charges of manslaughter.
The prosecutor, Mr. Godwin Eze, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), told the court that the accused committed the offence on January 3, 2009, at No. 3, Ariyo Close, Abule Odo Eran, Ilogbo Road, Ojo, Lagos.
Eze said that the accused drove a motorcycle marked QW 851-APP, in a reckless manner, without regard for the safety of others and caused the death of a 55-year-old Pastor Seyi .
He said that the offence contravened Section 20 of the Lagos State Traffic Law, 2012.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mr. Taslimi Shomade, ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), for legal advice.
Shomade granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case till March 17, 2014.
