More Dangote cement workers regain freedom in Edo 

Three workers of Dangote Cement company who were kidnapped in Okpella, Etasko East Local Government Area of Edo state has regained their freedom

They were among other workers who were ambushed by gunmen and abducted in a coaster bus conveying them from work to their community on May 13, 2024.

Blueprint gathered that the victims were set free after the payment of undisclosed ransom.

Spokesman for the Edo State police command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the victims’ release, but stated that he was not aware of any ransom paid. 

According to him, “Seven workers of the cement company were kidnapped by gunmen. 

“Four of the victims sustained injuries and were initially rescued by a team of security in collaboration with vigilante and hunters

“The remaining three victims were rescued few days later from the kidnappers captivity bringing the total rescued victims to seven.”
