The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has asked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reject move by governors to stop disbursement of federal allocation directly to the Local Government Councils
Speaking with Blueprint in Abuja , NULGE President General, Comrade Akeem Ambali Olatunji, said president Tinubu should disburse money directly to Local Government Councils as directed by the Supreme Court
He said implementing the verdict of Supreme Court would bring about progress, growth and development to the third ties of government which is closer to the people
According to him, the governors don’t mean well for Nigeria and urge President Tinubu to watch them close
“We received with dismay the news of governors pushing to block the disbursement of Federal allocation to Local Government Councils as directed by the Supreme Court
“We want to state categorically that governors are enemies of Local Government, they are saboteur . Nigerians knows what they are capable of doing .
“We need a paradigm shift in our Local Government Councils, we need a local government that would work for her people and that has been decided by the Supreme Court.
“We also wish tell Mr President that is the Nigerian people that will vote you for second term and not the governors ,so don’t succumb to their blackmail.
“We can say it anywhere that your work will speak for you come 2027. Mr President there are people in Government that pushing this , be mindful of such enemies of progress.”
Comrade Akeem Ambali who is also the national treasurer of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) said the union will continue to mobilise Nigerians to support President Tinubu administration.
