A first class traditional ruler in Ekiti state, the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, has warned politicians in the state to avoid violence and spilling of blood, saying that “such actions does not only retard development and growth, they breeds ill wind that blows nobody any good.”
The monarch called on all the parties’ candidates to conduct peaceful campaign, saying that all eyes were focused on Ekiti.
He stated this when a former governor and the People Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Ayo Fayose, paid him homage at his palace last Friday.

The monarch who said the relationship between him and the former governor was cordial and perfect, added that neither the Ewi nor Ado was against Fayose.
A statement issued by Fayose’s spokesman, Mr Idowu Adelusi, in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, Oba. Adejugbe, said he never thought or talked about the past, stressing that the past had gone with the inadequacies.

He said: “We don’t want fight, violence and killing in Ekiti state; what we want is peace and progress. All eyes are on us whether we are going to kill ourselves.”

Fayose who was received by the Ewi and the chiefs had told the monarch that he had not come as a candidate but rather to pay homage to the Kabiyesi, adding that he would still come back to present himself as candidate during which he would ask for royal blessing.
