National President of Miyetti Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Mohammed Kirowa, has called on governors to wade into the lingering  crisis between Fulani herdsmen and other ethnic groups in the country, saying that the crisis if not tackled was capable of causing mayhem.
Kirowa, who is also the Ardo Zuru, made the appeal yesterday in Lokoja, the Kogi capital, while addressing newsmen shortly after he met with the state executives of Miyetti Allah.

He said it had become imperative for the Fulani association to go round the states in view of the fact that in the recent time many Fulani herdsmen had lost their lives and property to incessant crises in some parts of the country where they reared their animals.
Kirowa, who said the state governors had significant roles to play in solving the crises, stressed that in the past and even during the colonial administration, grazing routes were set aside for the Fulani herdsmen and their animals.

He lamented that such routes had been cultivated by farmers, thereby hindering the smooth movement of the herdsmen, adding that for peace to reign between herdsmen and other ethnic groups, governors should be firm in ensuring that the Fulani were given their right to grazing lands.

He said: “In view of all these crises and in our efforts, as a body, to put an end to the indiscriminate killing of our members, we have concluded arrangements to register all our members across the country so that we can easily identify ourselves and also fish out any bad eggs amongst us.
“We are using this medium to appeal to the state governors to assist us by way of collaboration so that this problem can be solved once and for all for the benefit of the entire people of this country.”
