Three days into the commencement of the enforcement of the order suspending the operation of motorcycles and tricycles from 6pm to 6am in Minna, the police have impounded 56 tricycles and 94 motorcycles.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Niger state Police command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, weekend, confirmed this in a statement in Minna.
He stated that the enforcement began from Wednesday, April 23, adding that the seizure is within the date earlier announced.
He said police have also discovered that private motorcycles have been turned into commercial purposes at night in Minna.
“Some persons are using private motorcycles to do skeletal commercial activities at night. Following this development, any private motorcycle who could not give a satisfactory account of himself with proper identification as staff of an organisation, coming from work or any other important reason may be impounded,” he said.
