Minna jailbreak: Minister suspends Prison Controller, others

Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, has approved the recommendations of the Controller General of Prisons, Dr Peter E Ekpendu, for the immediate removal and suspension of the Controller  of Prison Niger state, Musa Maiyaki, the Officer-in charge of Minna Prisons, ACP. Mohammed I. Bena, and all other officers on duty on December 6, 2014, when the jail break happened.

A statement signed by the Service Public Relations Officers (PRO), Ope Fatinikun, yesterday in Abuja, said the decision became necessary following the outcome of investigation on the attack at Medium Security Prisons, Minna.

The statement added that the Controller General of Prisons, Dr. Peter E Ekpendu, has also ordered the immediate transfer of 55 officers and men of the zonal and state headquarters Minna to the Medium Security Prisons, Minna, and Old Prisons, Minna, to beef up security in the two prisons.
