Ministry denies Global Rights access to minister

A non-governmental organisation, ‘Global Rights’ has protested the refusal of the Federal Ministry of Justice to grant her supporters audience reparatory to marked her 16 days annual activism in protest to put an end to gender violence in the country.

Country Director, Global Rights Mrs. Abiodun Bayewu, the group had gone to the ministry, but security personnel at the gate refused them entry.

A female security personnel, advised them to remain outside the gate, which they did for hours waiting for response, but to no avail.

Bayewu said their mission was basically to get approval work with necessary authorities on gender violence in the country.

She said she was directed to with Attorney General of the Federation, but all effort was abortive.

Earlier speaking, the acting Executive Secretary, National Human Right Commission, Mrs. Ori Ovrawah lauded Global Rights for its commendable initiative.
“The action to stop discrimination and violence against women is a process that should be practiced which is the reason for this march today”, she said.
