Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, Thursday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, Nigeria’s 23rd Chief of Army Staff, who passed away on November 5 after a brief illness.
In a statement released by Ahmad Dan-Wudil, Dr. Matawalle’s Personal Assistant on Media, the Minister visited the Flag Staff House at Niger Barracks in Abuja, where he met with Mrs. Mariya Lagbaja and other grieving family members to offer his sympathies.
During the visit, Dr. Matawalle praised the legacy of Lieutenant General Lagbaja, describing him as a model of loyalty, bravery, and integrity.
“Lieutenant General Lagbaja served Nigeria with unwavering dedication, and his commitment to our country’s peace and security will remain a guiding light to those following in his path,” he said.
The late General Lagbaja, appointed Chief of Army Staff in 2023, was widely respected for his leadership within the Nigerian Army and his role in strengthening national security.
