Minister commends FCT voters for impressive turnout

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, commended the voters in FCT for coming out en masse to exercise their civic responsibility on Saturday during the presidential and national assembly polls.

The minister urged them to continue to be law-abiding and tolerant while awaiting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collated results.

The minister said this when he  returned from Bauchi to Abuja on Saturday after casting his vote in Bauchi, adding that preliminary reports available to him indicated that the exercise was generally peaceful and orderly in the Federal Capital Territory.

Meanwhile, the minister while in Bauchi state, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections at the Jibril Aminu Model Primary School, GRA, Bauchi.

He gave the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), political party agents and the voters pass mark over their orderly and peaceful conduct at the polling centre where he voted. He also said he was impressed with the turnout of voters at the centre which he put at between 80 and 90 per cent.

The minister, who arrived the polling centre at about 10.00am for his accreditation went home after his accreditation and came back at about 2pm to cast his vote.
Speaking with the press after casting his vote, he said: “I’m highly impressed and delighted with the process and most importantly with the conduct of the electorate… Plus or minus, I think it is okay,” he concluded.
