Military action against IPOB barbaric – Jonathan’s aide

As reactions to continue to trail the recent proscription of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as terrorist organisation, the former President Goodluck Jonathan’s senior special assistant on Youth and Student Matters, Comrade Jude Imagwe, has described the military action as “barbaric.”

He also blamed the declaration of the South-east governor as hypocritical, saying “there is no iota of sincerity in their actions.”

Imagwe, in a statement yesterday, wondered why the security agencies in the respective states waited so long and allowed the activities of the group in their respective states to flourish without being checked.

“I will describe the military invasion of the South-east, with particular reference to Abia state, as barbaric and cowardly. I wonder when our security agencies will learn to employ modern approach to solving problem of national security.

“Let the military recognise her need for civility and must have a proper channel of communication while working to protect the cooperate entity of the country.

“I also recognise the cosmetic and shameful resolution of the South-east governors as hypocritical and without iota of honesty. My question has been where were the chief security officers of these respective states before it got to this level?  They have been enjoying the drama of an individual threatening to hold a nation hostage even to the point where he declared that there would be no election on a state, yet they kept mute. They should be held responsible for their inactions that have plugged the South-east state into chaos today,” he said.

Imagwe further called on President Muhammadu Buhari to caution the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, saying his words were causing the administration its integrity.

He called on all political leaders to watch their utterances, stressing that some words could lead to civil war.
