Medical centre to computerise health records

The Medical Centre, Mararaba Guruku in Karu local government area of the neighbouring Nasarawa state, is to embark on immediate computerisation of its health records in line with the governor’s directive.
This followed a recent directive by the governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, during his recent visit to the hospital after he toured other on-going projects situated around the area.

Medical superintendent of the Centre, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu, told Blueprint that apart from the computerisation of health records to do away with the manual methods of keeping and dealing with records of patients at the facility, the eyes clinic of the hospital too, is to be expanded.
“When the records are computerised, people like you journalist can come here and easily access what is happening without any stress; the governor in his wisdom has ordered that all records should be computerised,” he said.

Adamu said in a bid to cushion the effect of a doctor attending to almost 50 patients on the average in a day, the Centre had entered into partnership with the National Hospital, Abuja, such that doctors from that end would be coming stay and complement the work of the resident ones.
According to him, a land has already been allotted by the government within Mararaba towards building a house of eight rooms that would accommodate the visiting doctors from the National Hospital, Abuja.
He called on patients to imbibe the culture of coming to the hospital timely enough for their illnesses rather than waiting for cases to degenerate to the casualty stage.
