Matawalle hails Tinubu for lifting ban on mining

The Zamfara state former governor and Minister of State Defence, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, Monday, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government for the immediate lifting on banning of mining exploration in the country.

Matawalle who made the commendation while fielding questions from journalists at his residence in Gusau, said the steps taken by the federal government to lift the ban on mining exploration will be a yard stick to enhance the economic potential of the states blessed with mineral resources in North-west and Zamfara in particular.

Blueprint reports that the lifting on banning of  mining exploration by the federal government is coming after five years when the former President Muhamadu Buhari banned all mining activities due to insecurity in North-west.

Matawalle stated that lifting ban on mining activities will positively improve security as many Nigerians will now have means of livelihood.

He added that the federal government is committed to contain insecurity affecting northwest and other states due to activities of armed bandits.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is doing all he could to address the lingering insecurity affecting some northern states and to God be the Glory, the bandit’s days are numbered as our gallant security personnel are making tremendous effort to mitigate them wherever they are in the country,” he said.
