Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina state has commiserated with former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and Sardaunan Katsina, Alhaji Ibrahim Commassie, even as he condemned the recent fatal attack on his Katsina GRA residence by unidentified gunmen, which led to the death of a police officer with another one seriously injured.
In a press statement issued by his media aide, Abdu Labaran Malumfashi, the Governor described the attack as “dastardly, callous and cowardly,” and vowed that all those behind “this targeted attack would be fished out and punished accordingly.”
Commiserating with the former IGP and chairman of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) on behalf of the government and people of state, Governor Masari lamented that targeting “a respected elder statesman who had served, and is still serving the nation with distinction with criminal intentions could only be the product of evil minds, the kind that the society would be better off without.”
He charged security agencies to spare no efforts in flushing out the perpetrators of “this heinous crime and their sponsors,” assuring that anybody found complicit in the crime would be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the law.
The Governor declared that his administration would not tolerate the violent breach of the peace that had been achieved in the state with the advent the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
He also appealed to the people to, not only remain security conscious, but to always cooperate with security operatives by providing useful information on activities that look suspect, saying that security is the responsibility of everyone.
Masari condoled with the former IGP and the family of the deceased police officer, and prayed to Allah to forgive him his shortcomings.
He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the officer who sustained injuries.
