Masaka butchers task Buhari on insurgency

President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), has been urged to place, as a top priority, the fight against insurgency in the north-eastern part of the country on his agenda, when he assumes office in May this year.
The Secretary, Masaka Butchers Association (MBA), Ibrahim Abdullahi, in a solidarity message to Buhari, over his victory at the just concluded presidential polls, charged the retired general to “make haste in bringing to a halt, the lingering war that has not only destroyed the region, but has, drastically, affected the livestock business in the country”.
He said Buhari, as an elderly leader, who ruled the country in the past, had capacity, ability and experience to stem the tide within the shortest possible time as he promised Nigerians during his campaigns.
Abdullahi, who lamented that the economy of the nation, especially, as it affects the grassroots people, had been demeaning and demoralising, urged Buhari to re-appraise the standard of living of the common people and adopt new measures that could put lasting smiles on their faces.
“Our advice to him is to govern us as president of the country and should not be seen to be sectional; we are all smiling today because we voted him as our president, so let him lead us as our president.
“I know that we are always in a hurry for speedy change, but Nigerians should consider the fact that this is a big country, not a small one, therefore, everyone including those of us at the grassroots should come together and support the APC government to bring about the positive change we have been yearning for”, Adbullahi said.
