A 28-year-old man, Adeola Omotayo, has been arrested by the Police in Lagos state for allegedly killing his sister over a disagreement on the ownership of a plot of land.
The body of the deceased, Rukayat Adedapo Omotayo, 30, was reportedly found over 24 hours after she was killed in her apartment in Aga area of Ikorodu, Lagos.
Blueprint gathered that her fiancé made discovery when he paid her a visit after trying to reach her on her mobile phone severally to no avail and consequently reported the matter to the Police.

A Police who spoke to our correspondent said that preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was killed by her brother Adeola, who sells building materials at Sawmill in Itamaga and was also found to be member of the Eiye Confraternity.
The source who spoke on condition of anonymity said the suspect who allegedly had not been on speaking terms with the sister, however, paid her a surprise visit a day before she was killed.

According to the senior police officer, Adeola confessed to the crime after he was arrested and interrogation by the police, he claimed, however, that it was not intentional.
He said: “I didn’t have the intention of killing her, she was my sister. If I wanted to kill her, I wouldn’t leave the knife at the scene and I would wear a glove to prevent my finger prints. The incident happened when we were dragging.”
Adeola said information making the rounds that he killed his sister along with his cult members is not true because he had renounced his cult membership and is now a member of Jehovah’s Witness.
However, his younger brother, Abideen Omotayo, said he did not believe Adeola, who joined the Eiye Confraternity when he was studying at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology before he was expelled for cultism, killed their sister alone and would want the police to further investigate the matter.
The officer further disclosed that the case would be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
Efforts to confirm the incident through the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ngozi Braide, proved abortive as she could not be reached at the time of going to press.
