Man drags in-laws to court for ‘taking his wife’

A Kano resident, identified as Kabiru Muhammad, has dragged his in-laws to court for allegedly taking his wife.

He dragged the in-laws before a Shariah court in the state on Wednesday.

The plaintiff brought three of his wife’s relatives, Ali Dan Abba, Hadiza Dan Abba, and Haruna Bala Dangwauro, before the court in Kano Municipal’s Hotoro Masallachi district.

The wife stated in court that she was not forced out of her husband’s house, saying that she went to her elder sister’s house on her own because her husband was not taking care of her.

The woman said, “I took myself to my elder sister. Nobody forced me to do that. I have been sick for a long time, but he refused to take me to hospital. That was why I decided to go to my sister’s in Dambatta LGA.”

The court presided over by Mallam Nasir Muhammad Ahmad, ordered that the woman be sent to the hospital for treatment for the case to proceed.
