Man docked for allegedly stealing N1.9m

 

The Police  Monday arraigned a 22-year-old man, Solomon Ugwu, at a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos state, for allegedly stealing N1.9 million.

Ugwu, who has no fixed address, is facing a count charge of stealing, an offence he denied.

The prosecutor, ASP Nkem Ukor, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on December 17, 2019, at about 6p.m., at Baggage area of Seme, Badagry, Lagos state.

Ukor said that the defendant stole the sum of N1.9 million, belonging to one Peter Gabriel, the complainant.

He said the defendant, who went into hiding after stealing the money, was later apprehended by the Police.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Patrick Adekomaiya, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000, with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case until February 6, for further hearing. (NAN)
