Man bags 8 months jail for stealing iron sheet in church

A 22-year-old man, Wakili Ganiyu, was Tuesday sentenced to 8 months imprisonment by a Magistrate court in Osogbo, for stealing iron sheet belonging to a church. 

The police prosecutor, Mr. Olayiwola Rasaq, told the court that the convict stole iron sheet, property of the Dream Centre of the Life Oasis International Church. 

According to the prosecutor, the convict committed the crime on January 5, 2020, at about 9:30pm at Osunjela area, Osogbo. 

The prosecution said the iron sheet stolen by the convict, worth N80,000. He said the convict was caught by the night guard attached to the church. 

He told the court that the accused person conspired with one Azeez Ayomide (17) and one other person, now at large.

According to the charge sheet, the offence contravened the provision of sections 516 and 390 of the law of Osun state, 2002.

The convict admitted guilty of the two count charges leveled against him by the police. 

The Magistrate, Mr. Opeyemi Badmus, ordered the transfer of Ayomide to family court and sentenced Ganiyu to 8 months imprisonment.
