Malaria: ICIN, NASCO dole out mosquito nets, treat women, children

No fewer than 1,000 women and children were freely treated against the scourge of malaria, in surrounding communities of Jos North local government area, Plateau state.

The free 14th annual medical outreach by the Islamic Counseling Initiatives of Nigeria (ICIN), in collaboration with NASCO, was done at Naraguta and Yelwan Zangam communities of Jos North LGA.

The ICIN, executive director, Hajiya Fatima Suleiman, said they collaborate with NASCO, to discharge some cooperate social responsibilities, by way of touching the lives of the people through medical assistance.

“Considering the ravaging impact of malaria on women and children, NASCO in its cooperate social responsibilities, feels it necessary to provide free test, medicines and mosquito treated nets to the vulnerable with communities of Jos South and Jos North LGAs,” she said.

The executive director said besides sensitisation campaign on the scourge of malaria, they have also embarked on sensitisation on the importance of always keeping an environment clean, to avoid an outbreak of cholera.
