Coordinator, Biu Emirate Youth Advancement Coalition (BEYAC), Malam Umar Bundi Bukar has warned Chairman of the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu to hands off matters concerning their son, Abdulrasheed Maina.
Bukar, in a press conference at the weekend, insisted that “Abdulrasheed Maina does not have a 7-year-old son as alleged by Magu at the House of Reps probe”, adding that “no word coming from Magu regarding the pension fraud should be trusted.”
The coalition also said no such account as alleged by Magu existed, and challenged the EFCC boss to publish the account showing the balance of N1.7billion as he indicated at the House of Representatives’ sitting probing the reinstatement of Mr. Maina.
“Magu, being a Kanuri man, has been working hard alongside some officials of Borno state government to drag Maina’s name into the mud,” Bukar said, adding that the recovery of N1.3trillion for the Buhari government as indicated by the Minister of Justice at the Senate hearing, should be seen as a positive act of service by the embattled Maina.
“Nigerians should not be taken on a ride, we must read in between the lines to see the difference between N1.3trillion Maina recovered and the N2.1billion Magu is falsely accusing Maina of. How much is the 5 per cent whistle blowers’ fees for N1.3trillion compared to the N2.1billion he is being accused of?”
“Elections are coming and all Nigerians have opened their eyes wide to see reason before casting their votes. We are tired of this reverse psychology,” Bukar said.
