Lugard House: Kogi electorate thumbs up Gov Bello

As the governorship election of the confluence state draws closer, the people of Kogi state are set to unanimously re-elect Alhaji Yahaya Bello for a second term. In the eyes of the people, GYB has made remarkable contributions to the development of the state.

It is in public domain that ex-political office holders in past administrations of the state have declared their unreserved support for the re-elections of Governor Yahaya Bello in the forthcoming November 2019 gubernatorial elections. This is irrespective of political party affiliation. It is also true that leaders in the state including, women, youths and royal fathers across the state have joined the train of Yahaya Bello’s re-election.

Following Kogi state politics with kin interest, one can assertively deduce that the bunch of propagandists who criticise GYB and his administration are either opportunity seekers or contract commission agents or stooge apologists. This is the reason for the irresponsible and baseless criticisms against GYB, which incidentally are making him stronger daily.

The popular opinion of the Kogi electorate is that the quest to rule the people is beyond political rascality, hate speech, malicious utterances and dramatisation in social media by some political kindergartens. These are politicians polluting democratic culture and environment because they refused to upgrade in politics by not laying aside their primordial campus politics of old.

Their campus political rascality is well known to everybody. They must understand that democracy in Nigeria as fashioned from the practices of the United States constitution has culture and decency. The Nigerian system is not based on ‘agberocracy’

A look at the political history of GYB critics shows lack of merit or substance in their claim. Some of their bitterness stems from not being able to manipulate the dogged and seasoned Kogi state chief administrator to do their biddings; hence they opt to cheap blackmailing. There are those who spent constituency development allowances from their offices in the purchase of exotic cars to the detriment of the very people they represent.

It is certain that unproductive politicians including those that are, unreliable and unstable in their ways cannot work with His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello. This is because GYB is very focus and determined to turn-around the state from poverty than playing politics with the collective destiny of the people.

Surely, Governor Yahaya Bello will smoothly sail to the Lugard House for a second term as a result of diligent and selfless service. The administration has made the state secure to visitors and indigenes. It is a state where people can carry out their businesses without threat to safety. The state indeed, is one of the safest states not just in the north but in the entire country.

The administration of GYB has been able to unite the state and instituted peaceful political integration amongst the indigenes. The problem of ethnic, sectional and regional chauvinism that was once a challenge to development has finally been dumped into trash can.

The stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the national, state and local government levels are happy and proud of GYB to have delivered dividends of democracy to the people.

In one of his recent events, Governor Yahaya Bello promised to intensify efforts in all areas of governance to make the state a model of modern development to other states in the country. He also promised an improved service condition for both civil servants, public and political office holders.

Governor Alhaji Adoza Yahaya Bello has been tested and can be trusted, given the landmark achievements in human and infrastructural development across the state. He has in the last four years served as a unifying factor in the state. I strongly believe that the votes of the people will not be risked on a party candidate that is an alien to democratic governance. It is suicidal for the people to take a risk on such an alien.

It is on this note that all KOGITES are enjoined to be resolute and steadfast to deliver all votes with no minus to GYB in the 3 senatorial zones, 21 local government Area Councils, 239 delineated wards and 2,548 polling units across the state.

Gbodi is a former councillor Oshobane Ward, Ogori/Magongo local government area, Kogi state.
