Lockdown: Wase donates 600 bags of rice, others to Plateau state govt

The Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives Honorable Ahmed Idris Wase, Tuesday presented a truck load of food items as palliatives to the Plateau state Government for onward distribution to people of the state.

Wase said items are meant to cushion the hard economic effects of novel Coronavirus pandemic on the people.

Representative of the deputy Speaker Alhaji Musa Abdullahi Yalun, said the Wase was delighted to have presented the items.

The items comprising 600 bags of rice, 500 bags of magi cube, 500 bags of spaghetti and 2000 medium size of yam tubers was handed over to the Plateau state COVID-19 palliative committee headed by the state Deputy Governor, Professor Sonni Tyoden.

“It gives me a great pleasure to hand over these items to the plateau state COVID-19 palliative committee on behalf of the Deputy speaker,” he said.

He said that the deputy speaker shares in the pains and trauma caused by the ravaging Coronavirus pandemic.

“The deputy speaker is greatly aware of the precarious situations our people have been facing as a result of this COVID-19,” he added.

He enjoined the citizens to remain calm and embrace all the safety measures in order to stem the spread of the disease.

Receiving the items, the Chairman of the Plateau State palliative committee and the deputy governor of the state thanked the deputy speaker for his generosity and patriotism.

He said: “This is one of the highest palliatives plateau state has received from any individual entities.

“He is the second national assembly member from the state that has presented palliative to the state government.

“It shows that even though he is in Abuja, does not mean he has forgotten his people.”

He enjoined other well to do individuals especially top government functionaries to emulate the deputy speaker in this trying moments of global outbreak and spread.
