The Plateau state government has set up 10 mobile courts to try violators of lockdown order which commenced, midnight Thursday .
It said the establishment of the mobile courts was meant to ensure enforcement and compliance to the directive of government, aimed at protecting the citizens from the coronavirus pandemic.
A press statement issued by the Commissioner of Information and Communications, Hon. Dan Malang, Thursday afternoon said, “Members of the public are therefore advised to comply with the no movement order while those exempted because of their essential services are to carry their identify cards at all times.”
The statement further Governor Simon Lalong has, “appealed to citizens to bear with this unusual situation and make sacrifices because the problem is not peculiar to Plateau state but is a global challenge as the world battles this pandemic.”
“He warned that any security personnel who overreaches his mandate by engaging in corrupt conduct or brutality will be held accountable.”

Similarly, residents have rushed into market places to purchase food items in preparation for the total lockdown.
Blueprint correspondent on market survey observed that prices of food items have skyrocketed as buyers lament non-palliative measures from government.
