Transaction on the floor of Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Friday sustained declining profile, shedding N167 billion as losses in the shares of Unilever Nigeria Plc, Dangote Sugar, Jaiz Bank, International Breweries and others impacted negatively on the market activities.
The market capitalisation of listed equities declined by 0.25 per cent to N66.351 trillion from N66.518 trillion reported the previous day.
The NGX All Share Index also depreciated by 265.49 basis points to 105955.13 points from 106622.62 points recorded the previous day.
The trading for the day showed that year to date return went down to 2.94 per cent as 22 companies closed in green against 24 firms that took negative direction.
An analysis of the trading for the day showed that Royal Express led gainers table, rising by 10 per cent to close at N0.88 per share, Linkage Assurance followed with a gain of 9.57 per cent to close at N1.26 per unit, Guinea Insurance added 9.52 per cent to close at N0.69 per share, Enamelware added 9.05 per cent to close at N25.30 per unit, Redstarex gained 8.41 per cent to close at N5.80 per unit.
On the contrary, Tantalizer topped losers chart, dropping by 9.85 per cent to close at N2.93 per unit, Jaiz Bank trailed with a drop of 9.72 per cent to close at 3.25 per unit, Neimeth international Pharmaceutical fell by 9.45 per cent to close at N2.49 per unit, Dangote Sugar dipped by 7.76 per cent to close at N35.65 per share, Lasaco Insurance decreased by 5.96 per cent to close at N2.65 per share.
The volume of shares increased by 408.867, million shares worth N11.056 billion in 10584 deals against 341.708 million shares valued at N16.654 trillion in 11233 deals.
Champion Breweries led the gainers table with 350.371 million shares valued at N1.401 billion, Tantalizer followed with account of 53.070 million shares valued at N157.141 million, Custodian Insurance traded 51.110 million shares cost N1.002 billion , Lasaco Insurance exchanged 36.501 million shares cost N97.714 million, Access Holdings company trades 30.703 million shares worth N722.995 million.
