Trading on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange Limited on Friday took negative direction shedding N49 billion.
The market capitalisation of listed equities declined by 0.08 per cent to N64.302 trillion from N64.351 trillion it closed on Thursday.
The NGX All Share Index also depreciated by 79.68 basis points to 105451.06 points from 105530.74 points recorded the previous day.
The negative performance recorded during the day was driven by loss in the shares of Oando, AccessCorp, FBNHoldings , Nigerian Breweries, Zenith, Afriprudential, SkyAvn and 18 other losers which wipe out gains recorded in the shares of RTBriscoe, NSLTech and other 32 gainers.
Consequently, the year to date return declined to 2.45 per cent as 25 companies closed in red against 33 firms that took positive direction.
An analysis of the investment showed that C&I Leasing led gainers table, appreciating with 10 per cent to close at N4.51 per unit, HoneyWell Flour followed with a gain of 9.99 per cent to close at N10.02 per unit, Trans Express added 9.89 per cent to close at N2.00 per share, RTBriscoe gained 9.83 per cent to close at N2.57 per share, NSL Tech increased by 9.46 per cent to close at N0.81 per share.
On the contrary, Sunu Assurance topped losers chart, dropping by 9.99 per cent to close at N7.30 per unit, Eunisell Plc trailed with a loss of 9.96 per cent to close at N17.35 per share, SkyAvn dipped by 9.87 per cent to close at N30.15 per unit. Daar Communications declined by 9.28 per cent to close at N0.88 per share while Sovereign Trust Insurance fell by 7.04 per cent to close at N1.32 per unit.
The volume of trades increased by 993.475 million, representing 202.94 per cent as investors traded 1.483 billion shares valued at N19.393 billion in 12, 877 deals against 489.525 million shares worth N13.068 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 13, 010 deals.
Wema Bank led market activities with 976.239 million shares valued at N9.765 billion, Tantalizer followed with account of 52.963 million shares worth N129.643 million, Universal insurance traded 34.795 million shares cost N26.764 million, AccessCorp exchanged 33.901 million shares valued at N843.760 million while Nigerian Breweries traded 27.286 million shares valued at N873.279 million.
