List of foreign-based Nigerian players eligible for Super Eagles invitation

Nigeria’s Coach, Eric Chelle has initiated moves to invite many players who are eligible to play for the Super Eagles through their Nigerian ancestry, according to ScoreNigeria.

“The new players will challenge the ones in the team and this can only be good for Nigeria,” he told SCORENigeria

In general, these players are young, vibrant and playing regularly at their respective clubs in Europe.

He has already spoken about Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri as well as the Chelsea loanees Carney Chukwuemeka and Lesley Ugochukwu.

He showed me an exhaustive list of possible targets some of whom he hopes with the help of the NFF he could have as soon as the international break in June, when the Super Eagles will play three friendlies.

His special wish list includes the following players:

Noah Atubolu – Freiburg No 1 goalkeeper who has set various records in the Bundesliga this season. He has played for the various age-grade teams of Germany

George Ilenikhena – AS Monaco striker, who has been capped by France at U21 level.

Michael Kayode – Highly-rated fullback, who has been capped by Italy at U21 level and now on loan at Brentford in the Premier League.

Felix Agu – The 25-year-old Werder Bremen left back has been capped by Germany U21s.

Kazeem Olaigbe – The winger, 22, recently transferred from Belgian club Cercle Brugge to French Ligue 1 club Rennes.

Caleb Okoli – Leicester City central defender who moved from Italian Serie A.

Jacob Murphy – Newcastle United winger, whose father is Nigerian.

Josh Maja – Already capped by the Super Eagles once, scoring goals in the English Championship for West Bromwich Albion this season until he was recently injured again.

Chuba Akpom – The former Arsenal and Ajax striker, who has moved to Lille in France, has already changed his international allegiance from England.

Samuel Edozie – Manchester City Academy graduate who is now on loan at Anderlecht from Southampton.

Ahmed Abdullahi – Flying Eagles striker, who played at the 2023 U20 AFCON and joined Sunderland from Belgium in the January transfer window.

Victor Udoh – Golden Eaglets winger who signed for Premier League club Southampton from Antwerp of Belgium

Kingsley Ehizibue – Rugged, hard-tackling defender formerly with Fc Cologne now with Udinese in Italy.

Tosin Adarabioyo – Chelsea central defender who has long been linked to the Super Eagles.

Carney Chukwuemeka – Chelsea loanee to Borussia Dortmund, who has been capped by England at youth level.

Lesley Ugochukwu – Another Chelsea loanee who is currently with Southampton and has been capped by France at U21 level.

Ethan Nwaneri – Teenaged sensation who has shone for Arsenal in the absence of injured Bukayo Saka

Tino Anjorin – Former promising Chelsea Academy midfield star now with Empoli in Italy.

Ebenezer Akinsanmiro – Inter Milan loanee at Sampdoria. Highly-rated midfielder who signed for Inter from Remo Stars.

Uche Chrisantus – Has caught the eye as a midfielder or striker in debut La Liga season with Getafe after coming through from Spanish lower leagues.
