Like Igariwey, Ngozi moves to restore Afikpo electricity

It is indeed a season of good news for the people of Afikpo North and South as another of their representative has made overtures towards restoring power supply to the constituency.

Just as Afikpo people are yet to settle down to the good news of member representing Afikpo North/ South constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Iduma Igariwey’s intervention in resolving the protracted electricity issues, member representing Afikpo North East Constituency in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Lilian Ngozi Eziuloh, has also intervened.

In a letter sighted by Blueprint Weekend, titled “application for replacement of damaged cables” and dated November 16, 2019, Hon. Ngozi, who doubles as Chairman House Committee on Special Projects and Chairman Ad hoc Committee on Local Government Monitoring, appealed to the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) for replacement of damaged cables in different parts of the constituency.

She listed the affected areas to include: Ukpa, Amachi, Mgbom, Ngodo, NCI, Unwana, Amuzu Nkpoghoro, Ndibe, Enohia Nkalu, Ugwuegu W.T.C,  Government College, Agboride Amaizu, among others.

“I have called my people and advised them accordingly to be paying their bills

as at when due. We have also resolved that there will be no attack on EEDC staff

any longer. Security has been provided to guard the transformers. I will ever remain grateful if my demand can be given a favourable answer,” she stated in the letter, with an acknowledgement showing receipt by a Jacinta of EEDC on November 20, 2019.

Similarly, a police extract, dated November 18, 2019 and made available to Blueprint Weekend, reveals the lawmaker’s notification to the Nigeria Police Force, Afikpo North division, of her intention to carry out a replacement of seventeen damaged transformers and cables within the constituency, with affidavit CR. NO. 0027531, sworn to at the Chief Magistrate’s Court of Afikpo Magisterial District on the same date.

“The essence of this affidavit is to enable her repair the damaged transformers. This affidavit is now made for official and record purposes, information of the Nigeria Police Force, general public and others to whom it may concern. This report was recorded and extract

issued to the applicant to enable her further action with relevant authorities,” the Divisional Police Officer, SP Nwenyim Livinus, said.

Like Igariwey, many constituents have been applauding the move by Ngozi, praying that the issues affecting power supply to Afikpo city would be resolved as soon as possible, especially as the Yuletide is barely a month away, even as they implored the representatives to ensure the interventions are sincere and not just political gimmicks aimed at pleasing a few.
