Former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam said he had accepted the apology and retraction of a publication which was deliberately aimed at tarnishing his hard earned reputation.
There had been reports on social media last week alleging that the former governor was arrested in London by the metropolitan police for allegedly beating up his wife and was reportedly released on bail.
Suswam, had in a swift reaction denied ‎the allegations which he said were handiwork of his enemies.

Suswam’s counsel, Barrister Paul Harris Ogbole who spoke in Abuja then called on friends and family of the former governor to disregard publications claiming that Suswam was arrested ‎in the United Kingdom for wife’s beating.

While threatening to take legal action against those behind the falsehood, Suswam described the publication alleging that he beat his wife as a calculated attempt to smear his good image in the mud.
However, the publication was retracted.

Reacting to the reaction through a press statement signed over the weekend by Ogbole to journalists in Abuja, Suswam explained that he was satisfied with the retraction and profuse apology tendered by both the company secretary and the Editor of the media house concerned.

The statement reads” we are satisfied with the retraction and profuse apology of the perpetrators of the publication against the person of Dr. Gabriel Torwua Suswam and his family.
“We are however satisfied with the conduct of those behind the false publication as clearly demonstrated and we urge the public to beware of such future concoction of falsehood on public office holders”
