As the local government elections approach in Kaduna state, Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, has urged members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to maintain peace before, during, and after the polls.
She expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious without resorting to violence.
Speaking at campaign rallies in Lere and Soba Local Government Areas over the weekend, Balarabe emphasised that APC members must avoid any actions that could disrupt the election process.
She called on supporters to mobilise voters for a strong turnout to secure victory for the party’s candidates.
At a rally in Saminaka, Lere LGA, she encouraged voters to support the APC’s chairmanship candidate, Jaafaru Ahmed, and all 11 councillorship candidates.
The deputy governor praised the people of Lere for their peaceful coexistence, assuring them that development projects in the area would continue as long as peace prevailed.
In Soba, where the APC’s chairmanship candidate is Muhammad Lawal Shehu, also known as Molash, Balarabe reaffirmed that Soba is traditionally an APC stronghold and urged residents to reclaim the council through the ballot. She also expressed optimism that the APC would reclaim the House of Representatives seat in 2027.
Molash, in his speech, outlined plans to address the infrastructural challenges in Soba and boost agriculture, the area’s economic backbone.
He pledged to support Governor Uba Sani’s efforts by improving primary healthcare facilities in the LGA.
Other party leaders, including Secretary to the State Government, Dr. AbdulKadir Muazu Meyere, and Ahmed Munir, Member representing Lere Federal Constituency, urged voters to back APC candidates to ensure grassroots development.
