I am compelled to write this as an open letter to you with utmost sense of concern and respect, pertaining the glaring marginalisation of the people of Southern Kaduna and Kaduna Central in the distribution of the dividends of democracy under your esteemed office. As the Speaker of the House of Representatives, your position is beyond personal, ethnic, or district interests. It carries the huge responsibility of representing the collective aspirations of every Nigerian, irrespective of region, religion, or ethnicity. However, the consistent sidelining of other political zones in Kaduna in securing political appointments and benefiting from your office’s developmental initiatives sends a troubling message of exclusion and neglect.
It is worth reminding you, Honourable Speaker, that your rise to this illustrious position was not solely due to your local support base. You were elected with the influence of a government that championed unity and inclusion, persuading representatives from diverse backgrounds across Nigeria to place their trust in you. This trust was a mandate to ensure fairness and justice in the discharge of your duties. By allowing the marginalization of other political zones in Kaduna, you risk eroding this trust and undermining the very principles of democracy that your office is meant to uphold.
Because, it is evident that you have facilitated numerous federal and state political appointments, however, in all of the appointments, the beneficiaries were almost exclusively from within Zaria local government area.
As a leader whose constituency comprises the entirety of Nigeria, it is imperative that your actions should reflect a commitment to equity. Kaduna state is renowned for its multi-ethnic and multi-religious composition. A speaker who is partial in his approach to governance alienates a significant segment of this diversity, fostering feelings of resentment and division. The two political zones in Kaduna has long endured systemic neglect since from your assumption in office as the speaker House Representatives, and your stewardship presents an opportunity to reverse this trend and champion inclusivity as a national leader.
Therefore, i implore you to change your modus operandi in distribution of the dividends of democracy under your office. You should embrace the leadership style of Governor Uba Sani in which he massively engaged people from the diverse affiliation of Kaduna state in the affairs of governance.
