Letter to Senator Ibrahim Bomai

I am writing to respectfully bring to your attention the fact that as the elected representative of Yobe South, Yobe state your duty is to serve the people of the senatorial district, not just your associates or family members.

It is crucial to remember that the power entrusted to you through the votes of the people is a trust, a responsibility that should be carried out with utmost sincerity and dedication. As their representative, you must prioritise the needs and aspirations of the constituents who have placed their fate in you.

While it is understandable to have personal relationships and connections, it is vital to ensure that these connections do not interfere with your primary duty as a public servant. The interests of your constituents should always take precedence over personal affiliations or favours.

As you deliberate on legislative matters, I urge you to keep the welfare of the people of Yobe South at the forefront of your decision-making process. Seek their input, engage in meaningful dialogue with them, and take into consideration the diverse perspectives and concerns of the community.

Transparency and accountability are fundamental pillars of effective governance. I implore you to be transparent in your actions, decisions, and the allocation of resources. Ensure that the people of Yobe South are well-informed about your activities and have access to information about the progress being made on issues that affect them.

However, the practice of seeking political appointments exclusively for your family members is detrimental to your political career. It not only undermines the principles of fairness and equal opportunity but also sends a message that personal connections outweigh merit and hard work. Individuals like Shuiabu Labbo, who have diligently dedicated their efforts and abilities toward realizing political aspirations, should not be overlooked or disregarded.

Moreover, it is essential to establish channels of communication that allow the constituents to voice their opinions, share their grievances, and offer suggestions. Actively listen to the voices of the people and actively address their concerns. By doing so, you will not only foster a stronger connection with your constituents but also gain valuable insights into the needs of the community.

In conclusion, Senator Bomai, I respectfully urge you to fulfil your duty with utmost integrity and dedication. Serve the people of Yobe South selflessly and ensure that their interests are your topmost priority. By so doing, you will honour the trust placed in you by your constituents and contribute to the development and prosperity of Yobe South.

Kasim Isa Muhammad,

Potiskum, Yobe state
