Let’s equip youth with skills to succeed in life –  Olajide

Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Digital and Information Communication Technology Hon. Adedeji Olajide has said there is the need to equip Nigeria Youth with skills to succeed in life.

He stated this Sunday while speaking with Blueprint on phone on his planned handing over of a fully equipped Digital ICT fibre optic hub to the Oyo state government.

The lawmaker representing Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West federal constituency stated that the time has come to engage youth in the country positively with skills that would be of immense benefits to them in the future.

“I am thrilled to see this project come to fruition. As a representative of the people, it is my duty to ensure that our youth are equipped with the skills they need to succeed in life. This ICT hub is a major step to that commitment”, he said.

Hen. Olajide said  the hub sited within the premises of Oke-Bola Comprehensive High School, NTC Road, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, was part of his constituency project and “is designed to enhance secondary school students’ knowledge of ICT and digital technology”.

Stressing that more of such hub will be set up in other parts of the state over a period of time, Hon. Olajide said the ICT hub facility, will serve as a training ground for secondary school students and equip them with the skills needed to compete in the global digital economy.

He added  that the ICT hub “is equipped with modern computers, servers and fibre optic connectivity, providing students with access to high-speed internet and cutting-edge technology.”

The hub will also provide opportunities for students to learn about computer programming, software development and digital entrepreneurship, among other skills and will be managed by a team of experienced ICT professionals, who will provide training and support to students.
