The Sudanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Tagasir Tasul Ali, has advised Nigerians to draw lessons from the break-up of Sudan and work hard to prevent similar occurrence in Nigeria.
The envoy gave the advice on Wednesday in Minna during a courtesy call on Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu of Niger state.
He said “Nigeria must remain intact as indivisible entity, not only for her own sake, but also for the sake of the entire African continent.”

He said the citizenry should learn a very big lesson from the fate that befell his home country which led to the granting of self determination to the Southern Sudan after a protracted war that killed thousands of people

“In fact what happen in Sudan is a lesson that all of us should try to understand. Unity is critically important and if you don’t give a chance to unity, you will give a chance to others who are interested in disrupting the whole set up for their own interests.”

The envoy, who was accompanied on the visit by the High Commission’s Chancellor, Mr. Ismael Abdalla El-Rabi, said the relationship between the two countries dated back to over 100 years ago.

He said over 10 million Nigerians were doing very well in business, law and other aspects of life are residents  in his home country and had co-existed peacefully  with both his fellow country men and women and the rest  of Africans.
“At least 12, 000 Nigerians are also studying different courses like Engineering, Law, Islamic studies amongst others in the Sudanese University.”

In his remarks, Governor Aliyu directed the Commissioners of Education, Agriculture and Planning to liaise with the envoy for partnership in critical sectors of their ministries.
