Lawyer, son, arraigned for alleged N1m fraud in Osun

An Osun state based lawyer,  M.A Laogun and his son,  A. A. Laogun, were  Tuesday arraigned at the state high court, sitting in Osogbo, for alleged N1million fraud.

The prosecutor from the office of the Assistant Inspector General, AIG, Zone 11, Mr S. O. Ayodele, alleged that the duo of the defendants committed the purported crime sometimes in October 2010.

They were arraigned on three count charges of conspiracy, felony  with fraud and unlawful conversion of N1million.

The purported money, according to the charge sheet, belonged to one Dr Gbadebo Bukola.

The police said the alleged offences we’re contrary to the law under Advance Fee Fraud.

The duo of the defendants pleaded not guilty to the allegations of advance fee fraud, leveled against them by the police.

The lead counsel to the defendants, Mr S. P. Ajibade, prayed the court to grant the defendants bail in self recognisance.

He said the duo  are father and son with years of experience as lawyer.

He stated that  the case had been heard at the Federal High Court and his clients appeared ten times that the case came up.

Justice W. O. Akanbi, thereby granted them bail in self recognisance and adjourned the matter to February 20, for hearing.
