Late Audu’s family urges Kogi govt to fulfill campaign promises

The Late Prince Abubakar Audu’s political family has challenged the Governor Yahaya Bello-led state government to fulfill its campaign promises to the people of the state, especially as they relate to salary payments and execution of development projects.
The first son and head of the Audu’s family, Engr. Mohammed Audu, who spoke during the second year remembrance celebration in honour of his father at Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, advised Bello to emulate the legacies of Audu which “endeared him to the people of Kogi state.”
While lamenting the plight of the people he described as “frustrated,” Mohammed said the day of his father’s death, November 22, 2015, was a day of tragedy and devastation for Audu’s family, Kogites, friends and associates.
In his address, the chairman of the occasion, a former governor of Kano state, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, described the Late Audu as “a phenomenon” whose style of leadership brought about meaningful development to Kogi.
Kwankwaso, who was a close ally of the late political icon, said “because of Audu’s political sagacity and love for his people, he physically supported him for his third term governorship ambition, which the victory that was yet to be announced before his transition to glory.”
The former Governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, equally described the late Governor Audu as “an unparallel phenomenon” in Kogi politics.
He said “then to contest for governorship of Kogi state, one must get clearance from the great leader.”
Immediate past Governor of Kogi state, Capt, Idris Ichala Wada, added his voice to the encomiums on Audu and referred to him as a compassionate, pragmatic, people’s leader and a friend.
