Immediate past Governor of Jigawa state, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has called on the National Assembly to, without delay, investigate the ongoing $25 billion contract scam at the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
Lamido, who made the call over the weekend while receiving a PDP national chairmanship aspirant, Gbenga Daniel in Bamaina, Birnin Kudu local government area of the state, said “in the history of Nigeria, there has never been a time a Group Managing Director single-handedly awarded a contract worth $25 billion.
“I am calling on the National Assembly to, without further delay, vigorously investigate the legality and due process of the $25 billion NNPC contract as doing so is their primary responsibility as lawmakers.”
It has never happened that a single individual will award contracts in a government organization, which exceeded the total figure of the country’s budget until the Buhari administration.”
The PDP presidential aspirant maintained that “allowing this kind of scenario in the government is a clear indication that Nigeria is in serious danger of maladministration of a government that promised us a change.”
He called on Nigerians to revolt against slavery, hunger and starvation come 2019, saying: “No amount of threat, intimidation or incarceration can silent me from speaking against the wrong doings of Buhari and his government.”
