Lamido recruited 3,000 medical staff in 6 years –Ex commissioner

Against  what the premium Times, an online media reported   that government of Sule Lamido  neglected  health services   delivery  in Jigawa state alleged that he stashed away billions of Naira, his former commissioner of health Dr.Tafida Abubakar disclosed that the content of the report was baseless , unfunded and has no effect.

Dr. Tafida stated further that when they came on board in 2007, Jigawa state has only  26 medical doctors  but before 2015 , the state government through his former Ministry has recruited 160 medical doctors ,2500 para medical staff. Which include; nurses, midwives Community heath workers one and two to its credits all in an efforts to improve health services delivery to the people of the state.

He maintained that they also built  first class  College of Nursing and midwifery at Birnin  Kudu and renovated and upgraded state school of health Technology Jahun  stressing that because of the International standard of the Nursing College , they allowed to admit 100 students as against  50  approved  for any one.

Dr. Abubakar explained further that  his ministry has In 2012 constructed two community wards at Rasheed Shekoni  specialists Hospital worth  of over#200million and purchased City Scanning Maching of#186 million naira and installed  at same hospital.
The former commissioner disclosed further that during the administration of Lamido , they had achieved  over 90 percent of sustainable drugs supply of which government  spent no kobo pointed out  because it  was revolving, it sustained itself stating that this was apart from free medical care  to women in all the state.
