Lalong bags ICMC award, urges partnership in peace building

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau state has been conferred with Fellowship of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), Director of Press and Public Affairs, Hon. Samuel Nanle, has said.
Nanle, in a press release said the governor was honoured at the national induction ceremony of the Institute held at the National Judicial Institute (NJI), Abuja on Tuesday.
He said the Institute is the professional body saddled with the responsibility of training individuals and organisations on mediation as a primary mechanism for addressing disputes.
The governor’s media aide quoted the President of the Institute, Mr Emeka Jude Philipe Obegolu as saying the governor was acknowledged and honoured for his proactive initiatives in promoting peace and good governance in his state.
Nanle said Lalong has appreciated the Institute for finding him worthy of the honour, which he dedicated to the good people of the state.
“He gave assurances that the award will further strengthen his resolve and commitment to ensuring that every part of Plateau remains peaceful and free from any form of security threat,” he said.
Governor Lalong used the occasion to call on all Plateau citizens to partner with government in the building ofAcohesive communities through social interactions and neighbourhood vigilance.
Present at the award ceremony, which was well attended were the Yobe state governor, Ibrahim Geidam, Group Managing Director of NNPC, Mr Maikanti Baru, Chairman of INEC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu and Director General, Nigeria Law School, Dr. Olarenwaju Onadeko (SAN).
Others were the former President, Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) and His Royal Majesty, the Oba of Owo, among other distinguished personalities.
