Less than a week after the speaker of the Lagos state House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, was impeached and replaced by Mojisola Meranda, the House on Friday reconstituted its principal officers.
At the sitting, the impeached Speaker Obasa and other two other members of the House Nureni Akinsanya (Mushin 2) and the former Majority Leader, Naheem Adams, were absent.
The names of the principal officers were announced by the new speaker, Meranda.
The principal officers were Temitope Adedeji (Ifako Ijaiye 1) as Majority Leader; Richard Kasumu (Ikeja 2) as Deputy Majority Leader; Sanni Babatunde (Kosofe 1) as Deputy Chief Whip, and Sentoji David (Badagry 2) as Chief Whip.
The House also appointed Abubakar Taiwo Otun as the acting clerk and set up a Selection Committee to appoint Standing Committees.
The Committee is chaired by the speaker.
