In an effort to enhance members on the concept of the new Sector Wide Approach (SWAP) Policy in the state, the Lafiya UK support to health in Nigeria, in partnership with Yobe Voice of Accountability Mechanisms (YoVAM) have trained YoVAM members, Ministries Department Agencies (MDAs) and civil society organizations.
The two days training which took place in Damaturu aims at discussing the roles of Yobe Voice of Accountability Mechanisms (YoVAM) on implementation of the initiative the state.
In his keynote address, the co-chairman government, Bala Sulaiman, said the purpose of the training was to enlighten YoVAM members on what the Sector Wide Approach (SWAp) is all about, what the government want to achieve, and how they are going to key in to help in the successful implementation of the SWAp in the state.
“The training is also going to have lectures on data management.We are going to align with our organisation to see how we can comes inn to help in tracking using the data to achieve health goals in Yobe state,” he said.
In his remarks, the secretary, Yobe voice of accountability mechanisms, Hassan kubes, said YoVAM is a state led accountability mechanisms supporting the health sector in achieving and improving in reproductive, maternal, child and adolescent health and nutrition outcome and other very essential healthcare services especially at the primary health care level.
He revealed that, “The training is to agree on the next step on YoVAM’s roles in the sector wide approach (SWAp), to insert SWAP activities in the 2025 work plan and to update understanding of data management and visualization for effective evidence based -advocacy”.
The training featured pepper presentations, discussion, review of 2025 work plan and review of advocacy and communication strategy respectively.
