Labour minister, speaker to get IBDFM awards

Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Prof Stephen Ikani Ocheni, Speaker of Kogi state House of Assembly, Hon. Matthew Kolawole among others, will on December 6, be conferred with the fellowship award of the Institute of Business Diplomacy and Financial Management of Nigeria (IBDFM).
A press statement by the Registrar of the Institute, Mr. Sukana Danjuma Tusha and made available to Blueprint, said the investiture which will hold in Abuja, will acknowledge and honour deserving practitioners in the field of accounting, business management, treasury , taxation and corporate governance, as well as anti money laundering, Nigerian police force and financial crimes agencies with awards.
The statement further revealed that notable personalities who have distinguished themselves in the field of accounting, and business management will be conferred with the prestigious fellowship of the institute.
Papers to be presented at the investiture include; “The Role of Financial Managers in Strategic Planning and Decision Making Process in the 21st Century” to be delivered by Prof Ya’u Mohammed Damagum, a renowned professor of accounting and forensics of the University of Abuja, while the second lecture; “Management, Education and the Problems of Nigerian Managers in the 21st Century” will be delivered by Prof. Ayuba A. Aminu, an authority in management science of the University of Maiduguri.
Sukana noted that the choice of the topics for the investiture was informed by the need to address the problems of out-dated and abysmal accounting and management practices being experienced in the country, explaining that the issue would be adequately handled by the experts at the event.
The Institute is a non –profit making training and research organisation, registered and established in Nigeria to among other things, produce professionals with world class knowledge and skills in business diplomacy and financial management to advance the leadership influence of the country.
