Kwara: We don’t enrol children in school without Quranic education – Fagba ruling house 


Fagba compound of the royal lineage of the second Emir of Ilorin, late Shitta Alimi in Ilorin West local government area of Kwara state, Tuesday, came alive with series of cultural activities that climaxed this year’s dubar and Eid-el-Kabir celebration. 

The event, according  to caretaker committee chairman of Fagba Development Association, Mall AbdulRazaq Salaudeen, was organised to promote unity and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Shitta Alimi ruling compound. 

Speaking with Blueprint on the sideline of the durbar, Daudu  Fagba and head of Shitta Alimi Oroganloye ruling house, Alhaji Alabi Sulyman, harped on the need for all sons and daughters of the compound to always seek and acquire both Islamic and western education to live and act with the fear of God. 

He said Fagba is reputed for their knowledge in Islamic education bequeath to them by their progenitor which he said must be preserved and guided jealously.

“In fact, we don’t enrol our children for western education in higher institutions without first acquiring Quranic education. That is what our progenitors were known for,” he said. 

Giving a brief history of Shitta Alimi ruling house with reference to Alhaji Lasisi Kolawole Jimoh’s works, Alhaji Tunji Sulaiman, recalled that the late Emir Shitta was an embodiment of Islamic knowledge, a successful businessman and great leader.

The event was attended by Daudu Agaka, Alhaji Omotosho Kawu Agaka, Daudu Okaka, Alhaji  Anafi Abubakar, Daudu Idi- Oko Sambuf , Alhaji Dasuki  Muhammed , Daudu Amule Ile- Egba, Alhaji Olanrogbe Shuaib Ajibola and a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) Lawyer Kunle Sulyman.
