Kwara extends health insurance to Lafiagi, targets 500 enrollees per community

 

The Kwara State Health Insurance Agency has inaugurated a new regional office in Lafiagi, Edu local government area of the state aimed at making it a free health care scheme closer to those at the grassroots.

Speaking at the commissioning and community engagement, Wednesday, executive secretary of the agency, Dr Olubunmi Jetawo Winter, said the target of the agency was to ensure that no community has less than 500 enrollees in their primary health care centres.

She said the agency would create five regional offices across the state in order to achieve the universal health insurance coverage in Kwara through it free ‘Kwara Cares’ scheme.

Already, the agency had established a new regional office in Offa local government area of Kwara state, she disclosed. 

Winter said the new Lafiagi regional office which would be manned by the agency’s staff, would also serve Edu, Patigi and part of Ifelodun local government areas of Kwara state. 

She urged the people of the communities to embrace the scheme by taking advantage of the fund provided by the AbdulRaham AbdulRazaq administration. 

Wife of the Kwara state governor, Mrs. Foluke AbdulRazaq, who was represented by the wife of the chairman Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) of Edu local government, Mrs Aminat Aliyu, hailed the governor for funding the  it.
