Kuje monarch distributes food items, cash to widows

Chief Geoffrey Ajirbee Adi, the Tyoor Chibiri Ward, Tiv community in Kuje area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja on Sunday, distributed assorted food items, cash and other consumables to widows in the community.

The widows were invited to the Tyoor Chibiri ward to benefit from the gesture across the area in a move to cushion the impact of the current hardship, and to mark this year’s International Widows Day.

Tyoor Adi, who is also the Ambe u Tiv, said the outreach was organised as a demonstration of his commitment, love and solidarity for Chibiri community, pointing out that the decision was also to support the widows to take care of the children their husbands left behind.

According to him, the occasion was also an opportunity to strengthen the bond of love and respect that binds them as one community.

“We are gathered here to celebrate and share in the joy of giving and to support to one another as one great community united in love,” he said.

He appreciated his council members and village chiefs for their commitment to keeping their villages together and ensuring that the programme became a huge success.

“I have single handedly, through the help of God Almighty, been responsible for the financial burden of this programme. I have neither received support from the government nor individuals to organise this,” he added.

The beneficiaries thanked Tyoor Adi and his members in council for the gesture, adding that the items and cash would help them in no small measure during this perilous time.
