KSEMA donates food, relief materials to Zauro rainstorm victims

The Kebbi state government has begun the distribution of relief materials to 290 people affected by rainstorm in Zauro town near Birnin Kebbi last week.

The items consist of 1000 bags of cement, 1000 ceiling boards, 300 bundles of roofing sheets, 300 packets of different sizes of zinc nails, as well as various sizes of timber and plywood.

Also being distributed are foodstuffs that include one hundred bags of rice, one hundred bags of maize, one hundred bags of guinea corn and one hundred bags of millet.

Other materials include 100 pieces of mosquito nets, 1000 mats and 100 blankets.

Distributing the items to the victims at the palace of the District Head of Zauro, Wednesday, Executive Directo, Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency (KSEMA, Alhaji Abbas Rabi’u Kamba, said the gesture was in fulfilment of the promise made by Governor Nasir Idris.

He told the recipients that Comrade Nasir Idris directed the immediate distribution of relief materials to those affected to mitigate their suffering and assist them to rebuild their houses.

The Executive Director explained that the agency carried out an intensive inspection of all the houses destroyed by the rainstorm and took an inventory of two hundred and ninety-nine people identified to have incurred losses.

In separate remarks, the representative of the District Head of Zauro, Alhaji Muhammad Dikko (Turakin Zauro) and the Vice Chairman, Birnin Kebbi local government area, Alhaji Umar Sahabi Kola, thanked Governor Idris for his sympathy and magnanimity, which they described as unprecedented in the history of Zauro.
