Kpaduma residents ask FCDA to stay away from community

Natives of Kpaduma community in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) have vowed to boycott meetings with Directors from the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) over their appeal for the natives to allow allottees to commence work in the community.

Secretary of the community, Mr Simon Yerima, who addressed journalists yesterday, said that FCDA through it directors have been inviting the heads of the community to series of meetings, appealing to allow it allottees commence work in Kpaduma community.

He said the natives had informed FCDA directors that it was not possible because the case against the FCDA was still in the court, adding that FCDA had collected their farmlands without adequate compensation.
Hon. Bala Iyah, one of the leaders of the community, said despite the series of meetings held with the directors, they were surprised that one day when the allottees started coming to their houses where they were staying.

“Despite that we have told them that we would not allow them to start working in our community, they are still disturbing us. What are they disturbing us for? What we believe is that they are not telling the FCT Minister, Sen. Bala Mohammed the truth about what is happening in our community.

“We want them to tell the Minister that we are ready to sit down with him and discuss this issue.  We want to let him know that we need integration; they should come and integrate us, that is what we want.
For now, we are in court, so the FCDA should stay away from Kpaduma community, pending the determination of the court.”
