‘Kogi ready to raise Mount Patti to international tourism standard’

Kogi state government has declared its interest to develop Mount Patti located in Lokoja to world class tourism centre to boost the revenue generation of the state.
The mountain overlooks the city of Lokoja and hedges west ward is 458.3 metres which is 1,500 ft with a stretch of 15 kilometers plateau.

Special Adviser to Governor Idris Wada on Media and Strategy, Mr Jacob Edi, who disclosed this to newsmen yesterday in Lokoja, said the governor had travelled out of the country to United States of America to meet core investors on tourism development.
Edi, who said before the advent of the present administration people had expected Mount Patti to be used as a residential area, added that the governor, as a visionary leader, had seen the potential in the area which if properly harnessed “can earn the state huge source of income generation.”

He said: “Considering the location of Lokoja, the state capital, it is easy for people from up north and those from east and south to come here. So, if Mount Patti is developing to international standard it will create jobs and also improve the revenue of the state, Lokoja port is about to be completed; that will also improve the economic activities of the state.”
Edi said the governor’s visit to United States was to give the investors the political will of the government as a proof that Kogi state was interested in the project, adding that “there will be no liability on the side of the government.”
