Governor Idris Wada of Kogi state yesterday stressed the need for a level playing field for all the candidates in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
Wada said this while speaking with State House correspondents after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja.
The governor, who is also a candidate under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said with his performance, he was sure of victory at the polls.
According to him, the flagging-off of his campaign on Tuesday this week recorded an impressive turnout, an indication that he was in the good book of the people of the state.
He said: “I thank God that I am the candidate of the PDP for the election. Yesterday, we had a tumultuous turnout of our supporters and members of our party when I launched my senatorial campaign at the Eastern Senatorial Zone of Kogi State at Ayingba. It was a very successful rally and the turnout of people.
“In terms of preparation, we are working hard. I am also working with security agencies to ensure that there is a secured and safe environment for our people in the course of the campaign and during the election.
“I will tell the people of the state to keep faith because we have a transparent President. Provided a level playing field is created and security is tightened, any miscreant dealt with in the course of the election, people given the opportunity to express their will,  I believe that on the basis of performance I have laid down over the last three and a half years, our people will provide an overwhelming support for my candidacy. All we need is a level playing field.”
