A group, Kogi State Restoration Group, has advised a former governor of the state, Prince Abubakar Audu, to jettison his ambition of running for the Government House in the forthcoming election.
At a press conference organised by the group in Lokoja at the weekend, President of the group, Muhammed Abubakar, who made the call on behalf of other members, said it was crystal clear that the state was in dire need of a quality and upright leadership that could uplift the living standard of the people and save the state from the modern day slavery perpetrated by the ruling party, the PDP.
He said it was the responsibility of the opposition parties in the state to salvage    the people from misrule leaders by allowing a fresh, young and dynamic aspirant to challenge the People Democratic Party (PDP).

Abubakar, who lamented that the failure of the opposition party to usurp power from the PDP since 2003 was due to the fact that a particular candidate from the opposition party had been featuring in the governorship election, stressing that it was high time Prince Abubakar Audu gave way to another APC member to run and defeat the ruling party.
He added: “We have remain too long in the  opposition party, this has to change in 2015 and the only possible way we can achieve this goal is to appeal passionately  to our political father Prince Abubakar Audu to support a candidate that will be able to dislodge the PDP in the forth coming election.”
